Get a Grip On Yourself
Some say that love makes the world go ‘round.
I find that a bit overblown.
When my lover’s away, it doesn’t ruin my day.
Sometimes it’s nice, just to be alone.
Though it’s true that it takes two to tango,
Some dances are meant for just one.
If no partner’s beside you, and you should decide to dance solo,
It could be quite fun.
All your whining about being on your own
Is something I just cannot stand.
Pull it together and show us all whether you can take the situation in hand:
Get a Grip on Yourself!
Get a Grip on Yourself!
There ain’t nobody but you who knows just what to do, so son,
Get a Grip on Yourself!
Psychological health can be hard to maintain if codependency is your style.
If you think it takes a lover to make you feel good, take care of yourself for a while!
I went to see my analyst not too long ago, to heal the scars on my heart.
He said, “You have the power to make yourself happy.”
Well, I’ve got a good place to start.
Get a Grip on Yourself!
Get a Grip on Yourself!
There ain’t nobody but you who knows just what to do, so son,
Get a Grip on Yourself!
I thought of going to the gym to shoot some hoops so I would not feel so blue.
But why should I go out to play with a ball, when I can stay at home and play with two?
Some say the body is just like a temple. I say it’s more like a car.
With the proper fuel and some lubrication,
You can drive long, you can drive it hard!
Get a Grip on Yourself!
Get a Grip on Yourself!
There ain’t nobody but you who knows just what to do, so son,
Get a Grip on Yourself!
If you want it done right, you’ve got to do it yourself.
That’s an old cliché, but it’s true.
Who’s the one who knows best how to make you feel alive?
Well, that would be you!
Sometimes it’s hard to get a grip. Happiness can be a slippery affair.
But if my grippin’ starts a slippin’, then I just let ‘er rip and
Take what comes - like a Boy Scout, I’m prepared,
To Get a Grip on Myself!
So Get a Grip on Yourself!
There ain’t nobody but you who knows just what to do, so son,
I said, son,
Hey son,
Get a Grip on Yourself!
