Taking Charge of My Dream
It's all starting to happen.
They're calling me a star.
House on the river.
Driving around in my big Cadillac car.
I don't know how fast,
Or how far I can go.
But I know I'll never get there
While you're in my way, saying "No!"
I don't need someone to tell me
What I can't do.
I need somebody to help me
Make my dreams come true.
You say you've got the business sense
To know what I should be.
But I'm not here to fulfill your dreams.
And I'm not here to make you rich.
And I'm not here to look good hanging off of your arm.
I'm here to be me!
Just take your hands off my life.
Get your fingers out of my pie.
The board of this corporation
Is Me, Myself and I.
And the Board has reached a decision
About a change in the executive team.
Your services are no longer required.
You're fired!
I'm Taking Charge of My Dream.
I grew up on the streets of New York City.
My dreams reached the sky,
But I needed someone to teach me to fly.
You came along and gave me a guiding hand.
You led me down the path into the Promised Land.
Pushing you away is tearing me in two,
But when I look in the mirror, I only see you.
You don't listen to me - your hand is holding me back.
Our train has reached the end of the track.
Take your hands off my life!
Get your fingers out of my pie.
The board of this corporation
Is Me, Myself and I.
And the Board has reached a decision
About a change in the executive team.
Your services are no longer required.
You're Fired!
I'm Taking Charge of My Dream.
